Continue a long task with a clean context
Hedoq writes a note of the conversation, clears the context and carries on from the same place.
Every model has a context window. When a conversation grows too long, the model starts to slip and make mistakes. “Refresh session” packs what matters into a short note and starts the conversation over, while the agent still knows where it stopped.
Where to see how much is left
- Under the message field in the feed there is a context line: a bar and “used X of Y”.
- At 70% and 90% a hint with a “Refresh” button appears above the field.
- The iPhone shows the same: a context ring in the session header and a hint at 70% and 90%.
Step by step
- Wait for the agent to finish its turn. You cannot refresh in the middle of one.
- Click the gray “Refresh session” button under the field, in the hint, or as the first item in the ⚡ menu.
- Read the “Refresh the session?” window and click “Refresh”.
- Hedoq writes a note: the project, your rules, what is done and what is next. Then it clears the context and hands the note to the agent.
- The agent replies and carries on. It takes 1-2 minutes.
How it differs from /clear
/clear (/new in Codex) just starts a new conversation: the agent remembers nothing from before. “Refresh session” writes a note before clearing, so the work goes on without you having to retell anything.
Either way, the earlier conversation stays in the feed above a line that reads “context cleared, the agent does not remember what is above”.
Good to know
- Works only with Claude and Codex.
- Pressing Esc during a refresh stops it, and the context stays as it was.
- If the note comes out too short, Hedoq cancels the refresh and leaves the context alone.
- You can dismiss the hint. It will not come back until the next threshold.
- On the iPhone, refresh from the Usage sheet.
