Watch subscription limits and sessions by the notch

Hover the notch to see what is left in each subscription and what every session is doing.

The notch panel is the black shape around the camera cutout. Collapsed, it shows the essentials; on hover, it opens up.

What the open notch shows

  • AI service cards. What is left of each subscription as a bar, like a battery: the 5-hour window and the week, with the time to reset. The color changes when little is left.
  • ”+” under the cards. Connect another service. See agents and subscriptions.
  • Sessions. Every session with its model and state: working, waiting, asleep. Click to open it.
  • Shelf. Screenshots and files at hand.
  • Buttons along the bottom: notch mode, reply sound, the lid switch, “Record meeting”, “Open Hedoq”.

Step by step: connect limits

  1. Hover the notch.
  2. Click ”+” under the cards.
  3. Pick a service, sign in or paste a key, and click “Connect”.
  4. The service card appears in the notch.

The shelf

Screenshots, files dropped on the notch and files copied in Finder land on the shelf by themselves.

  1. Click a tile to select it. Drag sideways to select several.
  2. Drag down to carry the files into a session or into Finder, just like from Finder.
  3. The trash removes the selection from the shelf. The files on disk stay.

The shelf can also keep copied text, but that is off by default: passwords would end up there.

Notch modes

  • “When Hedoq is minimized”: the notch is at the cutout while the Hedoq window is not on screen. Inside the window it lives as an island in the toolbar.
  • “Always in notch”.
  • “Off”.

Settings: gear, “Notch and Mac” block, “Notch”. There you also find “Number when collapsed”, “Reply sound”, “Limit alert” and the shelf.

Good to know

  • When a subscription window drops below 10%, you get a macOS notification.
  • When a session finishes its turn, the collapsed notch gives a little shake and a short chime plays.
  • Hedoq reads Claude and Codex limits through their own command-line tools. Claude tokens are not read or stored.
  • The open notch refreshes the numbers once a minute; the collapsed one less often.
