What Hedoq keeps on your Mac and what goes over the network

Hedoq works around your agents on your Mac instead of sitting as a cloud between you and them.

What is stored where

  • Conversations. Hedoq keeps no copies of its own. The feed reads the files that Claude Code and Codex keep on your Mac.
  • Projects. In the Hedoq Space folder in your home folder. That is your work: uninstalling Hedoq leaves it alone. Separate project copies live in ~/.hedoq/worktrees.
  • Settings and service files. In Hedoq’s folder inside ~/.config, with locked-down permissions. That is where the tab list, settings and voice packs live.
  • Keys and passwords. Only in macOS Keychain. Only their names are on disk. See Keys and passwords.
  • Files from the iPhone and pasted images. Kept for 7 days.
  • Meeting recordings. In a folder on your desktop. Hedoq never deletes anything from it.

What goes over the network

  • Model requests go from the agents themselves to their own services, with your sign-in or key. Hedoq does not route them through itself and does not resell access.
  • Subscription limits. Hedoq asks the connected services how much is left: one address per service, and only for the ones you turned on. For Claude and Codex it asks through their own command-line tools.
  • Telegram, if you connected bots or your account.
  • The relay server for the iPhone, if you paired a phone.
  • Voice packs download once, at install time.

Voice

Speech recognition and reading answers aloud run on the Mac. No audio is uploaded anywhere.

  • The iPhone and the Mac pair with a QR code or six digits. The code is never sent to the server.
  • After pairing, every message is encrypted end to end: X25519, ChaCha20-Poly1305. The relay server forwards noise it cannot read.
  • The Mac has no open ports: both the Mac and the phone connect out to the server.
  • There is one exception: for the iPhone widget, the Mac sends the server a short summary in the clear. It holds the Mac’s name, subscription limits, and session names and states. No conversation text is in it.
  • Pairing keys are stored in Keychain on both the Mac and the iPhone.

Incognito

An incognito session erases the conversation from the Mac and the iPhone when you close it. The model provider keeps it under its own rules.

Good to know

  • Hedoq does not restrict countries. Agents need access to their own services.
  • “Delete Hedoq…” at the very bottom of Settings removes the app and its data. Hedoq Space and project copies stay.
